Pressure Sores in Nursing Homes

|

Florida has a significant elderly population that reside in some form of residential housing such a skilled nursing home, assisted living facility or independent living. Bed sores are one of the leading injuries sustained by elderly residents of nursing homes often due to frail skin, circulatory issues and/or incontinent issues. Our Tampa Nursing Home Lawyers handle cases that involve bed sores, commonly referred to as pressure ulcers or decubitus ulcers, while residing in a nursing home, assisted living facility or hospital. Our lawyers are dedicated to protecting the rights of individuals who have sustained bed sores while residing in a nursing home, assisted living facility or hospital.

Pressure sores are "staged" in the following manner:

  • Stage 1
  • Stage 2
  • Stage 3
  • Stage 4

In some instances, the sore is "unstageable" or is considered a deep tissue injury. A deep tissue injury is not an open wound but the tissue under the skin has been severely damaged. An unstageable wound cannot be staged because the wound is covered by necrotic tissue or filled with pus or fluid.

Our lawyers continue to litigate cases involving pressure sores developing in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and hospitals throughout Florida, including Hernando County, Hillsborough County, Pasco County, Pinellas County, Manatee County, Polk County, Orange County and Sarasota County. Should you have any questions regarding pressure sores and/or Florida nursing home residents' rights, please contact us, your Tampa Personal Injury Attorneys.
